Welcome to Starting With A Story!
Hello hello hello everyone! My name is John Lee and I want to officially welcome you to the podcast, Starting With A Story! I thought that it would be best to talk about the inspiration behind the podcast and why I wanted to start it in the first place. I am pretty new to writing and blogging so bear with me. Let me know if you have any tips for me so that I can help your reading experience better!
The podcast will always start with an intro to the story accompanied by some tunes. I’d like to give a shout out to the man behind the music. All of the music was composed by Bryson Kemp! He is an extremely talented musician who double majored in Music Performance and Film Studies at Muhlenberg College. He just launched a new website so if you love his work like I do, check him out at brysonkempmusic.com! Music truly adds an element that can enhance any story! We’ve been working hard to find the best sounds to emphasize the desire to connect with our audience! Let us know what you think!
As for the rest of the podcast, every Monday I hope to bring you a person or story that motivates and inspires you to grow and connect with more people every single day!
In Season 1, I share short stories covering topics ranging from personal growth to life lessons to connecting with others and so much more. Afterwards, I dive into the takeaways and specific parts of the story that resonate with me the most.
Season 2 consists of me interviewing an individual to learn more about them and their stories. The hope is to bring you all more value through the different experiences and lessons that these individuals have gone through!
In Season 3, I continue to interview individuals, but there’s a catch. I am interviewing people who are truly following their passions! I feel that too many of us pass up on the things we love or would like to pursue because of money, time, and even fear. So by interviewing these people, I hope to give you the confidence and the motivation to finally start writing that book, to pick up the camera again and become a photographer, or even just invest in yourself and a team to turn your ideas into a reality. Go out there and do what you love to do without letting fear or judgement hold you back!
I’ve always been fascinated by the power of a story. Growing up, my parents told me many stories, especially before bed, that inspired me or just were enjoyable to listen to. Some of the stories were fake. One time my mom and dad told me a story of a boy who whistled at night. The boy’s whistles spoke to the snakes outside and they slithered in and took him away. It turns out, my parents specifically told me that story to make me stop whistling at night. It worked.
The thing is, I realized that there is so much to learn and take away from these stories, even the funny absurd ones. As I grow up, I find more to appreciate in these simple stories. Some are true and some are tales, but each has a unique flow in guiding the reader or listener to a point or concept.
The other aspect of stories that I truly enjoy is that EVERYONE has one. We all have a beginning and a unique journey that maps out the path we took to get to where we are today. No matter what you’ve gone through, no matter what color your skin is, no matter where you are from… you have something that NO ONE can take from you; YOUR STORY.
Growing up, I was always ashamed of my story. I was ashamed that I was different and I just wanted to burn the pages of my past. As the years go by, I realize more and more that those pages have become my foundation. Embrace your story and know that you are loved and worth loving. I challenge you all to embrace the beautiful being that is yourself, and go out and share your story.
Thank you for joining me on this wonderful journey, and I hope you stay for the long ride.
Welcome to Starting With A Story.
Stay Safe, Stay You =]
